A simple, robust 6" (153mm) Newtonian Astrograph OTA

The classic reflector design that is simple, robust and easy to use. Newtonians give you a large aperture at an affordable price. High quality optics, a precise Linear Bearing focuser, a rigid steel tube and short focal length make these telescopes ideal for astrophotography as well as visual observing. 

The Astronz-GSO 6" Newtonian has a 6 inch (153mm) primary mirror with a focal length of 600mm and a focal ratio of f/4. It gives clear, bright wide-field views of deep sky objects such as galaxies and nebulae.

GSO mirrors are made from optical quality BK7 glass and are limited only by diffraction, which means they achieve the theoretical maximum resolution possible for the size of the mirror. They are machined and polished to better than 1/12 wavelength, sometimes 1/16 wavelength, which is considerably better than the industry norm.  

Apart from the quality of the optics, this telescope has a number of features that sets it apart. The steel tube gives much more stability than inferior aluminium models. The self-centering 2-speed Linear Bearing focuser gives more precise eyepiece alignment. And there is enough back focus that you can attach a standard DSLR camera for astrophotography.

Included in the box are tube rings and a Vixen dovetail bar, for putting your telescope onto a mount, and a Finder.

This is the optical tube assembly only, and does not include the mount or eyepieces. 


This item is shipped by our freighter as it is too large to ship by courier.

Normal shipping is for pickup at StraitNZ depot or a main city business address. Shipping to smaller towns and residential addresses may incur additional shipping charges. Shipping to rural addresses is not available. See here for depot locations.
